A ceremony was held at Mayor Mufi Hannemann's office at Honolulu Hale on July 7, 2010 to mark the transfer of 34-acres of land from Kapolei Property Development to the City. In exchange for receiving the land, the City has committed to constructing the extension of Kapolei Parkway from DR Horton's Mehana subdivision to the Kapolei Court Complex and resurfacing Kamokila Boulevard.

The monster’s costume is made up of 400 plastic bags, the annual number used by the average American. Can you imagine 300 million times that many bags going into US landfills, or littering the land and sea every year? Senator Gabbard introduced SB2559 to encourage the use of biodegradable or reusable bags instead. |

The event honored the memory of Corporal Joseph Medlen, an Army Railway Engineer, who was mortally wounded during an attack by Japanese war planes on the morning of December 7, 1941. Both this event and a second ceremony at the former Marine Corps Air Station Ewa "Ewa Field" were organized by Ewa Beach resident John Bond.

Senator Mike Gabbard was fortunate to tour the new Kapolei Court Complex on November 18, 2009 with Chief Justice Ronald Moon, project manager Christina Uebelein, and other area legislators who helped to fund this large piece of the Kapolei puzzle. The $133 million project will open on March 29, 2010 and will have 12 non-jury courtrooms, 1 jury courtroom, and a juvenile facility that will house up to 66 young people. |

Le Fetuao is a church-based community outreach program designed to provide preschool to middle school aged children with language, literacy, and cultural vernacular education. The school is located at the First Samoan Methodist Church in Salt Lake. Their founder and director is Elisapeta Tu’upo-Alaimaleata. Senator Gabbard had the privilege of serving as the keynote speaker at the school's Open House Celebration in April of this year.

Senator Mike Gabbard joins over
350 seniors and concerned citizens at the State Capitol

campaign. The demonstration was organized jointly
by Lanakila Meals on Wheels and Hawaii Meals on Wheels
